THE CARE VAN CONNECTION

Scrrrreeeeeech! Grrrrowllllll Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrunt! No, that’s not me belting out the first hymn of a Sunday
morning (although the similarity is uncanny). It’s the sound of the Care Van being put in gear! The Care Van is now 10 years old and has never had one night off in all that time.

The volunteers who staff the van come from many churches around the Lothians area and even the
Borders. Happily, volunteers are not required to put in the same amount of service as the van does; one night every month or maybe every two months depending on the size of the teams is the norm.

We could use some volunteers from SLPC as some of the volunteers on the Leith St Andrews team have been giving of their time for the past 20 years and would welcome a break. If you’d like to know more, please leave a message for me in the Church Office or see me in Church.

I would take this opportunity to say a very sincere thank you to all who have been donating packets of ‘cup-a-soups’ and other goodies over the months. Please also remember that heavy blankets, socks, hats, woollen gloves and other items of warm clothing are also desperately needed.

Once again, thanks for all your support.
